More Picks from Shirley

CARD BY SHIRLEY
Shirley Says: "My favourite stamp set for male cards is the 'Card Games ' at the moment and use it a lot . And I remember the old saying " blue and green should never be seen " But here it seems to work for me."

CARD BY LINDA FITZGERALD:
Shirley says: "I liked Linda's 5 minute challenge . What a cutie ! A humorous Christmas greeting. Three different stamp sets combined to make us smile . I think it was the subtleness of colouring that appealed to me ..very understated but the comedy helped bring the Christmas greeting to the fore."

CARD BY SHIRLEY:
Shirley says: "I used a template from Stampin'Up site for the red Christmas cards . Great for card topper and embellishment . The greeting from "Christ Is Born" Stamp Set filled the frame beautifully and made the card easy to complete in 5 minutes . Simply easy but I liked the idea of two toning the greeting and also the backgrounds make the card interesting I think."

Card by Christine Rowland:
Shirley says: "Well done .Coordinating colouring perfect..to me any way. Scalloped edge under striped paper is a classy touch . The shading on the flowers looks really great."

Card by Sharon Griffiths:
Shirley says: "I chose this one because it is pretty and bold. The back ground looks arty, while the flowers really jump out from the card. I like the effect gained from the flowers overlapping the edges. Well done."

Kerrie-Ann's Card Picks

Card by Jenny Soulsby:
Kerrie-Ann says: "The reason I like this one is that it is something different than the usual red and green Christmas cards. It is also quite simple in it's design and I like simple, suits my personality! Might have to do some in this colouring myself but will have to change the stamps as I don't have that one."

Card by Jacqui Corbett:
Kerrie-Ann says: "I guess the colouring is one of the reasons I like this card, the blue, green and "orange", although I'm not sure that is what the colour actually is, but it looks orangy to me, look good together and are colours I probably wouldn't have put together. I also like this stamp set because it is a bit different to the normal ones you get."

Kay says: "
I adore these in colours that Jacquie has used in this card, Wild rose is one of my favourite stamp sets and this card has been designed beautifully.

Card by Juliann Williams:
Kerrie-Ann says: "I like this one because it's just so sweet. I like the colouring and the way the wording shows behind the bird and aperture...a lot of thought went into making it I'm sure."

Shirley Barber's Card Choices

Card by Roz Veevers:
Shirley says: "Roz's card is showing off her skills. The cut out gift boxes look great and coordinate well with the background patterned paper."

Card by Kay Koufalakis:
Shirley says: "Kay's card too, shows off some real thinking outside the square. Loved the centre panels with the torn edges and the overlapping greeting."

Card by Jacqui Corbett:
Shirley says: "I like this one because it's well done with the wheel image and the different greetings at the top , then the use of the word punch and greeting at bottom. I think it's different and one I'd like to try."

Card Choices from Cindy Banks

Card by Christine Rowland:

Card Picks from Shirley Barber

Card by Juliann Williams:

Shirley says: "First word to come to mind; Stylish. The image layered onto black card is a dramatic element, while the clip and ribbon perfect embellishments. To me, what made it stylish was the striped background strip. It just softened the tone of the card slightly."

Card by Kay Koufalakis:

Shirley says: "Crisp , clean and bold. The torn strip behind the bold greeting 'Happiness' with the dark brads was what made the message crisp and clean but the nice touch was the rub-on flower borders. This, to my taste is that which made the card . It seemed like the artist added one last flourish "

Card by Jenny Soulsby:

Shirley says: "Here the background images are well placed , the colours complimenting each other . A simple greeting on white card , with inked edge and adhered raised on front , along with the double layered flower and brad centre really lifted the card. A card for Spring!"

Card Picks from Julia Emms

Card by Jenny Soulsby:

Julia says: "Ahhh, Christmas.... my favourite time of the year (and creeping up on us so quickly!). I absolutely love how Jenny has used the background tree image of the two-step tree from Solemn Stillness and stamped it repeatedly with varying amounts of ink to create the Christmas Tree forest and I like the inked edges of the cardstock. This helps to blend all the greens together. She has made a very classy card and it reminds me of the stillness and peacefulness of a snowy day. Also, is that just a hint of glitter on the trees? A beautiful card, Jenny!"

Card by Jacqui Corbett:

Julia says: "This is a beautiful card made by Jacqui. Personally, I love the swirly and filligree-styled stamps, so I felt attracted to it straight away. The choice of colour is wonderful and I love the hint of the small flower image in amongst the main stamped image. Again, thanks to Stampin' Up! the Grosgrain ribbon is a perfect match to the card and ink, and finishes the card off perfectly! A beautiful card! Simple, yet high impact."

Card by Juliann Williams:

Julia says: "This card is a favourite of mine - for a number of reasons: I just love the chocolate colour of the card and ink, and the white makes the images very crisp. I love monochromatic cards as they are very simple to create and have a big WOW factor! The design is great too - at first glance, I thought that the roller was a Jumbo wheel, but it is in fact the regular wheel used twice for a Fantastic effect. Lovely!"

TEAM BIO - Shirley Barber

Hi I'm Shirley, at 62 years I 'I've probably been a late bloomer, as far as craft is concerned.
After retiring from managing our own businesses , Hubby and I now live in Campbelltown , Adelaide.

I have my craft room , where I spend many hours of absolute bliss.Card making has been my hobby for a few years but I am a newbie to Stampin'Up. THANK YOU ROZ.
I love paper and stamping , reading craft magazines and craft shopping. I find buying from the catalogue just the best way to add to my stash. Their large range of inks compliment their papers and card stock which are amazing, while the stamp sets come in containers. [Great for storage.] And it sure beats driving all over town hunting for good deals . Of course , having a group of like minded friends who are happy to share their passion is another bonus.

As a hobbyist I only have occasional workshops but a few friends and rellies get their craft supplies from me, which helps with my restocking.
Always enjoying a challenge , I am trying my hand at a blog site now.

Regards
Shirley Barber

Kerrie-Ann's Card Choices

Card by Juliann Williams:
Kerrie-Ann Says: "I like this one because it's very simple in design but with a change of colour or sentiment, it would suit any occasion. I can see it as a nice, simple sympathy card just as it is. I do like the blue colouring on this card, I don't often use blue so it makes a change, I guess I'm more girly and stick with pinks and pastels for my cards.

Card by Kay Koufalakis:
Kerrie-Ann Says: "I just love the look of this card, again it's quite simple but stunning with the pearls and ribbon. I can see many different uses for a card like this too, wedding, anniversary, valentine as well as a special birthday. Purely Pomegranate is my favourite colour at the moment!

Card by Kerrie-Ann Rootsey:
Kerrie-Ann says: "I chose this one of mine because it was the first card I made from the new spring mini catalogue and I was so inspired by this whole set. I looked at the stamped image and it just screamed at me "Orange Poppy", so that is what it became."

Jacqui Corbett's Card Choices

Card by Juliann Williams

Jacqui Says: "This card is gorgeous because the colour combination is simple and soft. I love how the background looks like textured wallpaper and the polka dots add a cute touch. The scallop circle punch with the happy thoughts stamp really combine cute with old fashioned in a stylish way."

Card by Cindy Banks

Jacqui says: "One of my favourite colour combinations is pink and chocolate. I run out of Choc Chip cardstock more than any other colour! This card is simple to stamp and put together but good colouring like this takes talent.I love the way Cindy has turned this stamp into a work of art. It is a card for any occasion."

Layout by Melissa Cutts

Jacqui says: "I love pretty much everything Melissa makes. Her work has a very naïve and free-spirited feel. Her use of In-Colours that complement each other and the very cute Pick a Petal stamp set mirror the pure joy of her daughter in the picture. The layout is simple yet striking and exudes a feeling of happiness."

Christine Rowland's Choices

CARD BY CINDY BANKS - Teenage Challenge

CHristine Says -"This card really appeals to me as I really struggle to make masculine cards, It is really effective but also would be simple to make and all you need is your roller wheel. You could take this layout and use it for lots of different roller wheels and stamps. I also love the DSP, and the colour choice that she has used."

CARD BY CHRISTINE

Christine Says -"This card is one of my favourites that I have done, I loved when the Boatloads of Love stamp set came out as I thought that I would use it for boy cards, But in need of a card for my cousins new little girl at the same time that I received this set made me want to do something different."

CARD BY KERRIE-ANN ROOTSEY

Christine Says-"This card is something totally different to what I would make and thats why I love it. Her colouring in is beautiful. Card is beautiful without being overdone."

Please leave feedback, we would love to hear your comments!

Our first cards - Selected by Tina

Each week different team members will select their six favourite cards from the team's photo files on our Yahoo group. They will give a little commentary about they they like the card.

This week's commentary is from TINA HEWETT. Visit Tina's blog

CARD BY JULIANN WILLIAMS:

Tina says - "This card has a great layout which is balanced between the elements. I love the watercolouring of the flower and the spritzing on the white panel and the base card (assuming it is spritzed – It could also be a roller wheel) Whatever it is, it looks great!

CARD BY TINA HEWETT:

Tina says - "This is my favourite card I have made to date, because of using the Dahlia flower fold, and the additional touch of the half pearls from the pretties kit. I chose the colour combination from the in-colour chart that we could download from the SU site. It uses Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky and Blue Bayou".

CARD BY ROZ VEEVERS:

Tina says - "I like monochromatic cards because they are quicker to make for when you need a card in a hurry. Using the Stampin Around Wheels also makes it quick and easy to decorate a card. This one could be used for any occasion, by just changing the basic colour and the wheel used. It’s a very versatile card".
